The short version: Your energy data never leaves your browser. FairBench runs all analysis locally using in-browser Python (Pyodide). We do not upload, store, or transmit your meter data to any server.
1. How FairBench Works
FairBench is a client-side energy analytics tool. When you upload a CSV file, the data is processed entirely within your web browser using Pyodide (a Python runtime compiled to WebAssembly). Your energy data is held in browser memory and optionally cached in your browser's IndexedDB storage. It is never sent to our servers or any third party.
2. What We Do Not Collect
- Your uploaded CSV/energy data
- Your analysis results or charts
- Your facility configuration details
- Your meter hierarchy or channel names
None of the above ever leaves your device. When you close or refresh the browser tab, in-memory data is discarded. Cached data in IndexedDB remains on your device until you clear it.
3. What We Do Collect
If you create an account, we store the following in our database (hosted on Supabase):
- Email address — for authentication and account recovery
- Facility names — labels you assign to your facilities
- Facility metadata — operating hours, working days, and floor area (configuration you enter)
This metadata helps you organise your work across sessions. It does not include any energy consumption data.
4. Authentication
We use Supabase Auth for account management. You can sign up with email/password or via Google OAuth. We do not store your password in plain text. Session tokens are stored in your browser's local storage.
5. Cookies & Local Storage
FairBench uses browser local storage and IndexedDB for session management and data caching. We do not use tracking cookies. We do not use any third-party analytics or advertising scripts.
6. Third-Party Services
- Supabase — authentication and facility metadata storage (PostgreSQL with Row-Level Security)
- Vercel — application hosting and deployment
- Google Fonts — typography (Sora, Source Serif 4)
None of these services receive your energy data.
7. Data Deletion
Since your energy data lives only in your browser, clearing your browser data removes it completely. To delete your account and all associated metadata, contact us at privacy@fairbench.co.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as FairBench evolves. Material changes will be communicated via the application. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
